Over 192,000 IDPs in Libya need support

UN Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on Monday said that there are currently more than 192,000 internally displaced people in Libya who need more support.

"Internally displaced persons (IDPs) need more support to cover their needs and to return home when conditions allow," UNHCR said in a statement.

"There are currently 192,513 IDPs in Libya. UNHCR continues to support and provide assistance to IDPs across the country with non-food items, cash assistance and implementation of quick-impact projects," the statement added.

Libyan authorities and international organizations have been unable to resolve the issue of IDPs over the past several years, as escalating violence and continued armed conflict cause more displacement in several cities.

Each year, foreign humanitarian organizations demand international support for the displaced people in Libya.
