According to the data released by Eurostat, Poland issued around one million first residence permits for immigrants residing outside the European Union.
The residence permits were issued in 2021 and Indians were the largest group to seek the temporary residence permits. Among all the EU members, the number of residence permits issued by the country is the highest.

Poland has issued 967,345 residence permits last year which is the third of all the permits issued by the EU members. The other countries that released the permits are France, Spain, and Germany and their numbers are:

In 2020, the number of permits issued by the EU members was 2,952,000 and in 2019, it was 2,955,000. Poland saw a rise of 62 percent in comparison to 2019. The highest figure of permits for Poland in 2019 was under 600,000. Poland issues more first residence permits each year in comparison to the other EU member states.
In 2021, the statistics of Poland regarding the reasons for issuing permits differed in comparison to other immigration countries. The country has issued 82 percent permits for employment while Spain issued 24 percent, France issued, 13 percent, and Germany issued 10 percent. The data is given in the table below:

France, Spain, and Germany issue more permits for educational or family reasons. In 2021, Poland issued permits to Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, and India.
After invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the residents of Ukraine have become the highest immigration group. Millions of Ukrainians migrated to Poland this year and more than one million residents are still awaiting to migrate as refugees.
