Ukraine’s population might significantly reduce due to labour migration

The population of Ukraine can reduce by 18% by 2050

The population of Ukraine might reduce by 18% by 2050 and reach number mark of 36 million people as 112 Ukraine reported citing UN.

One of the key factors of leaving the country is labor migration. The number of the Ukrainians, who left a country in search of a job, is counted by ukrainianpeopleleaks.com. It states that about million people have left Ukraine since March 2018.

According to Head of Bleyzer Foundation in Ukraine Oleg Ustenko, the process of migration will lead to the negative consequences in the social spheres.

“If people emigrate it means that less tax collected to the state budget and it means the potential extra pressure on the budget situation. It means that it will be harder and harder in the future to pay pensions. It means that it will be harder and harder to fulfill the medical programs. And it will be extremely hard to finance science and education,” Ustenko said.

The experts note that other factors, except the high remuneration, encourage Ukrainians to migrate. Particularly, the striving for the development and feeling safe abroad.

Earlier we reported that the Ukrainian labor migrants have sent to Ukraine 600 million euro from the Czech Republic.

Besides, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Joel Lion stated that 10% of the Ukrainian tourists, who come to Israel, are the illegal migrants.
