Number of refugees from Syria may face deportation from Germany

The German Interior Ministry called the conditions for the deprivation of refugee status

In some cases, refugees, who came to Germany, might be revoked of their status, and so they will be expelled from the country. This was stated by German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer in an interview with Bild, DW writes.

According to him, deportation, in particular, will threaten refugees from Syria, who, while in Germany, again visit their home country for personal reasons.

"The one who, as a Syrian refugee, regularly spends his vacation in Syria, has no good reason to claim that he is being persecuted in Syria. We must deprive him of refugee status," the minister said.

Earlier we reported that the European Union provided asylum to 32,700 citizens from North Africa and the Middle East as part of the European resettlement program for particularly vulnerable categories of refugees.

"We are safely and legally delivering people who need protection to Europe," said Dimitris Avramopoulos, the European Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs.

According to him, Germany accepted 4,100 out of 32,700 refugees, who arrived in Europe.

Currently, the European Union has accepted only two-thirds of the promised quota of migrants, while Germany has agreed to accept 10,000 people, Avramopoulos added.

He predicts that by October the number of asylum seekers in Europe might increase to 50,000 people. It is assumed that these would be citizens of Libya, Ethiopia, Turkey, and Jordan.
