The German Foreign Minister, Sigmar Gabriel, arrived on Thursday in Tripoli and met with the Head of the UN-proposed government's Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj.
In a joint press conference with his Libyan counterpart, Mohammed Sayala, the German FM reaffirmed Germany's assistance to Libya in all fields, reiterating support for the political dialogue to avoid any more conflicts.
According to Gabriel, Germany will provide Libya with 3.5 million euros to help improve and enhance the conditions of the refugee camps in the country.
"We will provide aids to the migrants until they are safely repatriated to their countries." The German FM said.
Sayala said that the world is regarding Libya as a source for the illegal immigration and terrorism, while in fact Libya is doing its best to fight those two phenomena.
"Not only in the waters, but also on the southern borders." Sayala said, referring to the need to fight human smuggling, adding that Libya needs high-tech equipment and continuation of training for the coastguards and border guards.
He added that the immigration source countries must accommodated their citizens after they get deported, banning them form repeating the perilous journey to Europe.
"Libya appreciates Germany's support for political dialogue and solution in the country and looks forward to continuing the cooperation in many development projects, like rebuilding projects after Libya is stable." Sayala concluded.
